10. Anthony Weiner lives up to his name

Anthony Weiner

When it comes to using social media websites, we’re taught to exercise caution and be careful of what images may one day come back to haunt us. Democratic U.S Congressman Anthony Weiner may have missed the memo. Earlier this year he used Twitter to send a link to a sexually suggestive picture to a 21-year-old. Let’s just say Anthony Wiener’s weiner became a centrepiece for public scrutiny. On June 16, Weiner announced his intention to resign from Congress.

9. Princess Beatrice’s fascinator

Princess Beatrice

Fashion blunder! Our number 9 choice comes after all the press and media attention for the Royal Wedding this year. But it wasn’t a faux pas by the bride or groom, but by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenia. Their outrageous fascinators made headlines for weeks! Famed milliner Philip Treacy designed Princess Beatrice’s hat, which was so intriguing it garnered its own Facebook page. Some say it looks like an Easter basket, others say a toilet seat. Interestingly, her hat sold for $130, 000 for charity on E-Bay – shows just how absurd it was!

The famous cougar couple’s marriage ended this year. Demi Moore’s hubby of 6 years Ashton Kutcher was apparently involved in a cheating scandal. What can you expect from a 16-year age difference? It was reported in September that he was having an affair with 22-year-old Sara Leal. 6. Christina Aguilera’s reinterpretation of the US national anthem at the Superbowl

Christina Aguilera

Rather than singing “O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming,” Aguilera sang “what so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming.” If you’re going to get creative, don’t do it with the national anthem at one of the USA’s most sacred and well-attended events. People will notice.

5. RIM

First there was the massive BBM blackout that had Blackberry users taking to social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook to express their intent to convert to the iPhone. Their poor performance in the stock market came next, as the company hit an eight-year low. Then there was the Playbook. Let’s hope 2012 brings about some better luck for Blackberry users everywhere.

4. Rick Perry

Rick Perry

From his wardrobe blunder in his “Strong” election video to his continuous fumbling through debate topics, Rick Perry has given us another Republican to laugh at in 2011. Many mocked how Perry’s jacket was identical to that of Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain, while Perry also made a fool out of himself in several different debates. Most notably, he claimed he would cut three agencies of government: “commerce, education, and uh, the uh…” As long as 2012 continues to keep him far away from presidency, we’re happy.

3. Arnold Shwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger finished up his time as Governor of California this year, but that isn’t why he topped headlines this year. It was his secret love child and relationship with the family’s longtime housekeeper that he hid for ten years! Wife Maria Shriver filed for divorce July 1st after these revelations went public. There were several reports of Schwarzenegger wanting to reconcile his relationship, but who can blame Shriver? I mean, fathering another child behind her back and having to unknowingly continue to work with the woman that your husband cheated with – devastating!

Kim Kardashian's maggiage

Do we need to explain this one? I’m sure you’ve heard the story of the couples’ 72 day marriage, as it was perhaps the media’s biggest obsession of the year, but it had to be on this list. After an extravagant 10 million dollar wedding extravaganza, they could’ve at least tried to make it to a one year milestone like Russell Brand and Katy Perry.

1. Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen

Sheen is “#Winning” on our top ten list this year after his crazy antics and major breakdown. With custody battles, an interview about his drug habits that’s reached over 13 million views on YouTube, and a catchphrase that’s been seen on t-shirts everywhere, he makes the perfect candidate. After being kicked off popular show ,“Two and a Half Men,” he then tried his own stand-up comedy show which was such a FAIL that viewers begged for their money back.
