For the third year in a row there will be no elections in FIMS.
Third year MTP student Jordan Coop will be next year’s president of the MITSC, while third year MIT student Kelly Mark will be the MITSC’s Vice President External (USC Councillor). Coop and Mark will succeed incumbents Zach Valliant and Jess Bronstein, respectively, in May.
The USC’s Chief Returning Officer Briana Peniuk made the announcement at the USC’s All Candidates’ Meeting this evening. The presidents of the Faculty of Health Sciences Students’ Council (FHSSC) and Arts & Humanities Students’ Council (AHSC) were both acclaimed as well. Every other faculty will vote for their presidents in the USC elections on February 14th and 15th.
“It is an absolute honour to be the president of FIMS,” Coop said in a statement. “I will do my best to represent all of its students to the best of my ability.”
Coop is currently the MTP Representative on the MITSC as well as the graphics editor for the mitZine. He was the First Year Representative on the MITSC in 2009/2010 and has been an MIT soph for the past two years.
Mark is currently the Vice President Finance on the MITSC. Over the past two years she has been a member of both the MIT and charity soph teams.
“I’m excited to put MIT on the map in both the USC and on campus,” said Mark.
